Send files to the AI
In Ask AI and a note's chat, click the paperclip beside the send button, paste (⌘V), or drag files onto the chat: photos and screenshots, PDFs, text and code files (.txt, .md, .csv, .json, .py and more), recordings and videos. Up to 6 at a time, 25 MB each; large photos are made smaller first. Save Word, Excel and PowerPoint files as PDF first.
The AI reads what's in them: text, handwriting, tables, receipts, whiteboards, documents, code and what's said in a recording. Ask about them, or say what to make of them: "make a note of this recipe with the ingredients as a checklist", "summarize this PDF's decisions", "turn this whiteboard into tasks", "what's the total on this receipt?".
It copies text and amounts exactly. A note made from them gets a shape that fits: a recipe's ingredients as checklist items and its steps numbered, a receipt as a table, a document or recording as a summary with its key points and to-dos.
Every file you send is saved into the note the AI makes or edits for you, at the top: images show in the note, other files as file cards.
Double-click (or double-tap) a file in the chat to preview it; right-click it for Preview or Download.
Recordings, videos and large files take a little longer to read, so the chat thinks them through in the background. You can send files with no words, and ask follow-up questions about them in the same chat for a day. Files go to Google Gemini with your message.
